The situation
Boundary Labs had spent four months and significant money developing a new go-to-market strategy with a large consulting firm. The strategy was good. The deck was impressive. Six months later almost none of it had been implemented. The leadership team was still debating priorities. The sales team was still using the old approach. The founder was starting to wonder if the strategy had been wrong all along.
The problem
The strategy wasn't the problem. The problem was that three members of the leadership team had never fully committed to the new direction. They had nodded in the room and gone back to doing what they had always done. Without genuine alignment at the top nothing below could move. The sales team wasn't confused about the strategy — they were following the signals from leadership which were contradictory.
What we did
We came in not to redesign the strategy but to understand why it wasn't moving. We ran a series of structured alignment sessions with the leadership team that brought the real disagreements into the open. Not the ones people say in meetings — the ones they say in the corridor afterwards.
Once we surfaced the real objections we helped the leadership team work through them properly. Two members needed more evidence before they could commit. One needed a different role in the new structure before the strategy made sense for them personally. All three were solvable — but only once they were visible.
